Character Review: Logan, the Wolverine

Logan serves as the second iteration of the much beloved mutant and Marvel icon. In this version, he represents his more «Lone Wolf» persona. So how does this not a member of the X-Men perform with the X-Men?

At 4 threat, Logan sits with respectable defenses of 4 physical and energy but a clear weakness with only 2 dice against Mystic. With 6 health, a medium move on a 35mm base and size 2, his profile looks a little skewed but on par with other 4 threats.

X-Slash serves as Logan's builder, with R3, 5 dice with a pierce trigger on a wild, it does a pretty solid job at helping Logan generate power. X-Slash does have a mandatory place, within R1 of the target after the attack is resolved. This can let Logan cover an impressive amount of distance with his builder alone, but since the place is mandatory, you still have to be mindful of which model you're attacking.

Tornado Claw is Logan's spender and a very impressive one at that. A beam 3 with wild Pierce and Bleed that ends with a place makes for a very strong attack and additional mobility. Like the builder, since it has a mandatory place, you have to be mindful of the order of your attacks, since Logan gets to place within R1 of the last character targeted by the attack.

What I Do Isn't Very Nice serves as Logan's first superpower. It gives Logan the ability to displace size 3 models giving him a way to control models, even if it's tied to an action.

Sharing this power with his original counterpart, this power makes Logan harder to displace and control without some of the advantages (like being able to climb buildings) but with notable synergies (being able to be Air Lifted by Sam Wilson).

Get out of my Head! is a pretty important drawback to be aware of. When Logan is first damaged in a turn by a Mystic attack, each ally within R3 takes a damage and gains a power. This power reinforces Logan's loner nature, wanting to be further away from the rest of your team when fighting against Mystic attacks.

On the Hunt, like Get Out of My Head!, wants you to play Logan out of range of friendly models. Having up to 2 rerolls on your attacks, especially the spender, gives a very effective level of consistency to Logan on the offensive.

Last but not least, Logan shares the Healing Factor and Stun immunity of his previous incarnation, both helping make him much more durable and giving him access to X-Ceptional Healing to make sure he survives another turn.

Overall this Logan plays very differently than his first incarnation. With his inherent mobility, better pay to flip stats and reliable displacement, he cements his role as a solid workhorse in affiliation. His flexibility as both an attrition piece and a mobile scenario player makes him very hard to ignore in roster building. I highly encourage folks to try him out and make

Thanks for taking the time to read this piece and as always don't forget to have fun!
