Character Review: Rogue

Anna Marie Lebeau is arguably one of the most iconic members of the X-Men with her unique suite of superpowers and character design. But how Rogue fare in Marvel Crisis Protocol? Let's take a look!

With 6 health, 4 physical defense and 3 in both of energy and mystic defenses, size 2 and a medium move on a 35mm base, her statline is fairly average for a 4 threat model.

Absorbing Strike serves as Rogue's builder. With R2 and 5 dice, being able to choose the attack type between Physical and Energy is a nice plus to have, especially in addition to sap power, it will help Rogue build power to use the rest of her kit.

Southern Hospitality is Rogue's spender. With R2 and 7 dice, it gets to throw a size 4 or less character after the attack is resolved, giving Rogue a form of control against large models.

Charge is a tried and true superpower in Crisis Protocol, getting a move action to close the gap between her and an opposing model to attack them gives her fair amount of mobility.

Marvelous Strength let's Rogue throw terrain size 4 or less medium, which is a welcome addition to her kit and helps supplement her damage output when needed.

Mutant Absorbtion is, in my opinion, one of the key reasons to play Rogue. For 2 power, taking away up to 5 power from an enemy model is very strong. If they don't have power or are very low, it can deal damage without even giving power to the model which is an excellent upside.

Kree-Mutant Physiology turns Rogue's average statline into a solid one and makes her a resiliant piece, especially combined with the reroll provided by Storm's leadership.

Finally, Flight and Immunity to Poison are nice upsides to round up her character card.

Overall, I think Rogue has one of the most interesting and diverse toolkit available to X-Men with her good suite of attacks, a solid terrain throw and a unique and very powerful effect in Mutant Absorbtion. She provides a resilient brawler with a versatile toolkit to X-Men and I think she fits in most X-Men lists very well because of that. I would encourage folks to give her a try and see how she fares for them on the table.

Thanks for taking the time to read this piece and as always, don't forget to have fun!
